چکیده
Pathways to tune the electronic, chemical, mechanical, and optical properties of solids without modifying their composition represent a new paradigm in design functional sustainable materials. The level structural disorder - from perfectly crystalline fully amorphous – for example, induces remarkable changes material properties. Typically, is introduced by altering material, adding misconception that these two cannot be decoupled. Here, we demonstrate striking differences optical, corrosion CuZr are achieved deliberately reproducibly engineering pulsed laser deposited thin films constant composition. This approach allows tuning structure polycrystalline amorphous, switching nature charge transport metallic semiconductor-like, visible regime opaque transparent, behavior air mixed oxidation formation protective Zr oxide overlayer. Our results highlight tunability alloys its effect on properties, providing opportunity materials based customizing beyond • Deliberately introducing Effect revealed comparing Cu 44 56 layers. Structural disorder in metallic glass-forming liquids
We investigated structural disorder by a new structural parameter, quasi-nearest atom (QNA), in atomistic configurations of eight metallic glass-forming systems generated through molecular dynamics simulations at various temperatures. Structural analysis reveals that the scaled distribution of the number of QNA appears to be an universal property of metallic liquids and the spatial distribution...
متن کاملUniversal structural parameter to quantitatively predict metallic glass properties
Quantitatively correlating the amorphous structure in metallic glasses (MGs) with their physical properties has been a long-sought goal. Here we introduce 'flexibility volume' as a universal indicator, to bridge the structural state the MG is in with its properties, on both atomic and macroscopic levels. The flexibility volume combines static atomic volume with dynamics information via atomic v...

Theoretical computation of the pressure dependence superconducting state parameters of binary Ca60Al40 is reported using model potential formalism. Explicit expressions have been derived for the volume dependence of the electron–phonon coupling strength λ and the Coulomb pseudopotential μ* considering the variation of Fermi momentum KF and Debye temperature ӨD with volume. Well known Ashcroft’s...
متن کاملFrom crystal to glass-like thermal conductivity in crystalline minerals.
The ability of some materials with a perfectly ordered crystal structure to mimic the heat conduction of amorphous solids is a remarkable physical property that finds applications in numerous areas of materials science, for example, in the search for more efficient thermoelectric materials that enable to directly convert heat into electricity. Here, we unveil the mechanism in which glass-like t...
متن کاملEffects of Laser Annealing Parameters on Optical and Electrical Properties of ITO/Metallic Glass Alloy Bi-layer Films
AgAlMg (AAM) films with three different atomic percentage compositions are prepared, namely, Ag12Al62Mg26 (denoted as A1AM), Ag22Al46Mg32 (denoted as A2AM), and Ag36Al25Mg39 (denoted as A3AM). In addition, the AAM films are deposited with four different thicknesses, i.e., 3, 6, 9, and 12 nm. The indium-tin oxide thickness is assigned a constant value of 30 nm in every case. The results show tha...
